DNB uses both XBRL and ISO 20022 XML

DNB has migrated portions of its supervisory reporting infrastructure to XBRL taxonomies alongside its existing ISO 20022 XML requirements. For Dutch-licensed payment institutions and e-money issuers, this means maintaining compliance with two distinct schema systems — each with its own version management and publication cadence.

The XBRL taxonomy governs supervisory transaction reporting through DNB's eLoket portal. The ISO 20022 XML format covers the credit transfer and return reporting obligations. Both are required for a complete quarterly submission.

Fynrex monitors both the DNB XBRL taxonomy hub (published at dnb.nl/statistieken) and the ISO 20022 XML schema repository. Version updates to either schema trigger Fynrex's detection and regeneration pipeline independently.

XBRL vs XML: key differences
ISO 20022 XML (pain.001.001.03)
Schema defined by XSD files. Field-level validation. Updated via ISO registry and DNB publication. Fynrex monitors XSD hash changes.
XBRL Taxonomy (v4.3)
Taxonomy-based structure. Concept-level validation against DNB XBRL taxonomy. Published at dnb.nl. Fynrex monitors taxonomy version file changes.
