About FCA PSD2 reporting requirements

UK-regulated payment institutions report quarterly to the FCA under the Payment Services Regulations 2017. Following the UK's departure from the EU, the FCA maintains its own schema registry independent of the EBA. The FCA uses ISO 20022 message schemas but applies UK-specific cardinality constraints and field requirements that differ from the EU/EEA standard.

Fynrex monitors the FCA's XML Schema Repository for version changes. FCA schema updates are typically published with less advance notice than EU NCAs — the February 2026 v3.1.3 update was published 11 days before it became the required version for the Q1 2026 submission window.

FCA submission workflow with Fynrex

  1. 01
    Schema version confirmation
Fynrex confirms the current FCA-required schema version against the submission window. If a new version was published since your last submission, a report is generated with the updated schema automatically.
  2. 02
    Report package generation
Fynrex generates your PAIN.001 and PAIN.002 packages validated against the active FCA schema version. The file naming convention conforms to FCA Connect portal requirements.
  3. 03
    FCA Connect submission
The generated package can be submitted directly through FCA Connect via SFTP integration, or downloaded for manual upload. Submission confirmation is captured and archived in the audit trail.
  4. 04
    Rejection handling
If FCA Connect rejects the submission, Fynrex ingests the rejection response, identifies the specific schema field or validation failure, and generates a corrected package for resubmission.
